Baby Update and Gripe

Update from the Fetus:
See how cute I am? I have a nose and everything! Mommy's planning to update you on the ultrasound results tomorrow, but today I'm going to let you know what my body is planning for the week ahead!
  • By the end of this week, I'll be measuring about 3.2 to 3.5 inches (8 to 9cm) and weigh about 0.9 ounces (25g).
  • I'm now nourished by the placenta!
  • My face is developing and his cheeks and the bridge of his nose are appearing.
  • My ears are moving from the sides of my neck to higher on my head and my eyes are moving closer together.
  • My palate, or the roof of my mouth, has now completely formed.
  • My external genitals are now distinct and may be recognized on an ultrasound.
  • I will move away from stimuli near Mommy's tummy, such as noise and light.
  • My eyebrows have formed and a small amount of hair, called lanugo, has appeared all over my body. Lanugo, which will be shed before birth and replaced with the hairs with which I'll be born, is thought to have a protective function.
  • Fingerprints are forming on my tiny fingertips.
  • My veins and organs are clearly visible through my still-thin skin, and my body is starting to catch up with my head (which makes up just a third of my body size now).
  • Insulin is present in my pancreas, and some of my bones may be well outlined.
  • My thyroid gland, already developed by this week, begins to make hormones.
  • I'm practicing breathing motions, moving the amniotic fluid in and out of my lungs.
  • If I'm a boy, I'll begin to develop my prostate gland at this time, but if I'm a girl, my ovaries will descend from the abdomen into the pelvis and has more than 2 million eggs.
Now for Mommy's gripe... Can those of you with WordPress giveaway blogs PLEASE change your settings so that we don't get the obnoxious "you're posting too fast" message. Also, make sure that we can post links inside the comment box. There are many times that I'll post my twitter permalink and the comment will not post! For those of you with Blogger giveaway blogs, if you require a captcha phrase, please have the comment box pop up. It is *so* annoying to click submit and THEN put in the captcha and then submit again...it just takes up too much time, especially when you have 5+ extra entries for one action. I actually prefer the pop up comment boxes in general because you can read the extra entry actions at the same time as you're typing your comment. Fixing this stuff will make entering your giveaways so much quicker and easier!!!! Thank you. :-)

I totally agree with you on the giveaway comments! I hate the "you are posting too fast" message.
I am a new follower from buzz on by Thursday.

AMEN!! On the gripe part, anyway. Seriously, that "you're posting too fast" note.... soooooo annoying. I won't even bother with blogs that have that. And word verification... ugh. I don't like it at all. I understand they need to control against the spammers, but they can just do comment moderation, or something else less annoying.

Congrats on the healthy baby!!

I think it's weird that it takes babies this long to develop. It is what it is
