"The Rhythm of Secrets" Book Review

About the Book:
"Since 1955, Sheila Franklin, a talented musician, has perfectly performed the role of devout pastor’s wife, locking away her past as Sheba Alexander and Sylvia Allen. Her carefully constructed façade crumbles with a single phone call from a young Marine named Samuel..." In The Rhythm of Secrets, you'll be taken to "the bohemian 1940s New Orleans French Quarter and [across] three decades, including the turbulent Vietnam era."
About the Author:
Patti Lacy is a "Baylor graduate [and] taught community college humanities until G-d called her to span seas and secrets in her novels, An Irishwoman's Tale and What the Bayou Saw. She has two grown children and a dog named Laura. She and her husband can be seen jog-walking the streets of Normal, Illinois, an amazing place to live for a woman born in a car. For more information, visit Patti's website at www.pattilacy.com, her blog at www.pattilacy.com/blog, and her Facebook daily Artbites."

My Take:
I really enjoyed reading this book. It seamlessly travels between the "present day" (which is really the Vietnam era) and the 1940's while telling two stories at the same time. It is also very "faith heavy", meaning that the main characters in the book are very devout in their beliefs and are frequently looking to G-d for help and relying on His will. Even though I am a religious Jew, I am able to separate out the parts that are not in my faith and keep the main morals and reliance on G-d that are common with my beliefs. I also love reading about people who are so steadfast in their faith and pure in heart and morals. It's truly refreshing!

The plot will keep you on the edge of your seat as you learn about Sheila's history while imagining why her mysterious visitor, Samuel, has come for her help. Parts of Sheila's story will have you laughing, crying, and screaming out in anger. You will start to love all of the characters and pray for a happy ending for all. Will they have that happy ending? You'll just have to read the book to find out!

Cost: You can buy The Rhythm of Secrets for $10.28 from Amazon.com. ($$$)

Overall: We give The Rhythm of Secrets by Patti Lacy a 9.5/10!

We were sent The Rhythm of Secrets through LitFuse blog tour free of charge for the sole purpose of this review; no other compensation was received. All opinions expressed are my own.
