A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving iPad App Review & Giveaway CLOSED

My grandfather sent me an iPad mini for my birthday this year, but I don't think I've seen five minutes of it. The twins have basically taken it over as their own and taught themselves how to use it. I was quite impressed, actually. I put a few interactive books on there that had been recommended to me, and they love going through them. It makes me feel good to know that they're 'reading' rather than just watching a TV show or playing a non-educational game.

My Take:
Peanuts is most definitely my favorite comic strip of all time. I've always loved Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the whole gang, so I really enjoy watching my kids get into Peanuts. There's also a running joke in my house about having a "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" with popcorn and toast, because no one here particularly likes to cook.

I sat down with the kids to watch them 'read' through the first time. Knowing that it was a book being made out of a movie, I was very curious to see how that would work. Well, I was not disappointed. Every line is on a separate page, so the kids can see who is speaking each line and what's being said. There are also many things to interact with - almost everything you touch will move in some way - and there is a hidden leaf to find on each page. As you can see from the picture below, Dovid was really enjoying poking at things on the screen.

The kids really enjoyed 'reading' this book, and I doubt I'll be able to get the iPad out of their hands for the next while...if ever. In fact, I can hear Peppermint Patty chastising Charlie Brown's choice of Thanksgiving food coming from the other room right now.

You can read more about the app in the official press release.

Cost:
The "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" iPhone and iPad book app costs $5.99 from the iTunes app store.

Loud Crow Interactive will also be releasing a FREE director's cut into the iTunes store on November 20th. It will have some additional scenes, so make sure to get it before Thanksgiving!

My favorite character is Charlie Brown's little sister (whose name escapes me!) because she always sees the best in everyone and everything.
